Moses Haskew and Polly 1775-1841 SC to Alabama

Moses Haskew lived in South Carolina. He had land adjoining John Haskew in Marlboro County. They lived near the Pee Dee River where Three Forks Creek enters the Pee Dee. Zacheus Haskew had land in the same area. Moses once signed his name Hasskew. As a lot of spelling was done phonetically in those days, there appears a lot of variations of Haskew spellings.

Moses eventually moved westward to Dallas Co.,
Alabama. Part of his family appears to have moved to Texas, while the remainder lived nearby. He left a will and his daughter left a will. See link below.

His children started the spelling of Heskew instead of Haskew. Their line is in
Texas. Two other Haskew lines entered Texas a bit later and it is likely they knew each other.

Notice that the Hesskews, Peter Haskew, and Joseph Haskew lines all had marriages to the Jeter line.

Taken from PETER HASKEW DIARY- PAGE 95 year 1840. Read insert and then look at the bottom 3 names on the census. Neighbors of Moses Haskew are John B.Pouncy and W.L. Smith.Relatives from Marlboro County,South Carolina

I left for my fathers at whose I had landed the second day in the evening. I found him quite feeble - had been quite low - recovered some, and that day had perhaps exercised himself too much and was fevered. He arose from his palate (pallet) on which he was lying and was standing, tottering almost with old age. Was much affected when I went in. He soon lay down again but still could scarcely talk. I sat down. He came too, so he soon began to talk freely. I stayed some five days and left with miserable feelings. Leaving so many of Pounceys and Smith's families sick, being Brother-in-law.

After making the map and putting in the cities, His diary is more followable. CLICK ON MAP FOR ENLARGED MAP
